Φωτογραφίες από λεηλετημένα δωμάτια στο προεδρικό μέγαρο του Σύρου προέδρου Μπάσαρ Άσαντ στη Δαμασκό δημοσιεύουν πρακτορεία ειδήσεων, αφότου ο ίδιος εγκατέλειψε τη χώρα.
Ειδικότερα, γνωστοποιήθηκε ότι «ο Άσαντ εγκατελειψε τη χώρα και έδωσε εντολη για ειρηνική μεταβίβαση της εξουσίας» από το Ρωσικό υπουργείο Εξωτερικών.
Ο πρόεδρος Μπασάρ αλ Άσαντ εγκατέλειψε την πρωτεύουσα Δαμασκό με αεροπλάνο με άγνωστο προορισμό, σύμφωνα με δύο ανώτερους αξιωματικούς του συριακού στρατού που μίλησαν στο πρακτορείο ειδήσεων Reuters και στο Συριακό Παρατηρητήριο Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων.
