Greece is set to ask Eurogroup for a several-week extension of the
bailout program to get ready for the referendum, the Finance Ministry
said. Yanis Varoufakis, the ministry’s head, says banks must stay open
during the transition period and that the Central Bank will ensure it.
Varoufakis also wants the EU to return 1.9 billion euros in profits on
the ECB holdings of the Greek government’s bonds to pay the IMF
Tuesday.
